“Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not.”
“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.”
“You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.”
“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”
“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”
“A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.”
“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.”
“God can’t give us peace and happiness apart from Himself because there is no such thing.”
“Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”
“I didn’t go to religion to make me happy. I always knew a bottle of Port would do that. If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don’t recommend Christianity.”
God’s way is better than your way. His plan is bigger than your plan. His dream for your life is more rewarding, more fulfilling, better than you’ve ever dreamed of. Now stay open and let God do it His way.
I never really post anything personal on here, but I feel like I should so I can look back on this and remember this day.
Today I said goodbye to someone really close to me.
It was sad, but good. There’s still love and care but of different kinds.
Angel, if you look at this in the future, just remember: It gets better. You’ve come so far, and it’s only been a month. You have friends who love you and care about you, and most importantly: a solid rock of a savior, Jesus.
You’re done with your old life. You’re done with the shame, guilt, insecurities, depression, abuse- everything.
So if you’re looking at this feeling down, remember all of the above, and be at peace! :) I’m proud of you (well, I guess us?..)
"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." Isaiah 1:18 NIV
Scripture says that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are to honor the Lord with our bodies. How do you do that? You take care of it. You respect it. You treat it as valuable. You use your body to bring Him glory. When you stand strong against temptation, you are honoring the Lord with your body. When you take care of yourself by eating properly and getting enough sleep, you are honoring the Lord with your body. You are saying, “Lord, thank You for this gift of life. I am choosing to take care of myself so that I can serve You with my whole heart, mind and strength.”
Let this devotion be an encouragement to you to stay on track with good habits. As you honor the Lord with your body, you will be strengthened and empowered by His peace. You’ll be able to stand against temptation and embrace the good things He has in store for you!
